It's not Slack, it's you

Designer Khoi Vinh points out that Slack becomes to busy the more it gets used.
[…] it’s simply become another channel that I have to monitor—or, to be precise, it’s become at least eight channels that I have to actively monitor. Slack’s promise that I can “be less busy” seems optimistic if not unrealistic these days.
I made similar experiences with Slack. For me the issue also lies in that with every new tool introduced in a team there comes some sort of responsibility how to use it. When every conversation happens inside of Slack then there will be more noise. In the end it’s always how people use the product.

Slack: 👋
tech people: WE ❤️ YOU
*year later*
tech people: Slack pls
Simple solution to slack fatigue: learn how to mute channels, and close it when you're trying to focus. Apple-Q, people.
